Hall M1840 Type II percussion breech loading carbine. Marking worn away. Was a "fishtail" lever gun, with a period repaired lever. Metal parts are very good overall, smooth and free of pitting, except around nipple, with a little light uncleaned rust. Lower barrel band and rear sight are replacements. Stock is quite nice, showing minimal minor marks and wear overall, having only a couple minor edge slivers by the frame and a couple tiny hairline cracks at the back of the frame. An inspector initial "C" is present behind the frame on left side in the stock. Two screws are modern replacements. Buttplate is original, but tang was narrowed to a point, with the resulting space in the stock neatly filled. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
