M1840 French percussion musket. Barrel shortened to 34", stock shortened to below the lower barrel band position. Metal parts have medium patina with some pitting in the barrel breech area. Stock is worn, being shaved down in the butt at the time of conversion, missing a well-worn sliver below the nipple and chipped slightly by the barrel pin on right side. Missing ramrod and ramrod pipe. Hammer does not engage half cock notch, otherwise mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
