M1812 E.Whitney contract musket, shortened

M1812 Whitney musket, converted to percussion. Barrel slightly shortened to 41-1/2", stock shortened to generally around the area of the lower barrel band, with an old handmade brass band. Nicely marked lock, metal parts have a pleasing dark patina with some scattered rust. Stock is very good with a small crack behind the lock, a small missing piece of wood above the front of the lock and some cracking to the edges of the right side of the forearm. Lock screws are old replacements. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
