M1842 US percussion musket. 28-3/4" barrel, stock shortened to a musketoon length, missing upper barrel band. Markings were ground off long ago, having pitted over. Metal parts were cleaned some time ago, having acquired some patina since. Metal parts overall have scattered pitting. Stock shows a faint vestige of the cartouche, seems to have been cleaned some time ago, and shows some wear to the cleaning. Has a small crack in the lock mortise and some small age cracks in the butt, otherwise free of cracks and chips. Missing hammer screw and ramrod. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
