M1861 Special Model musket by Amoskeag. Barrel shortened to 32-1/2" with bead front sight installed. Stock shortened to below the lower band with pewter forearm cap installed. Superb lockplate markings with date of 1864. Metal parts have medium patina overall with a little pitting only in the nipple area. Stock was thinned in the butt and buttplte, overall is in fine condition with an attractive light patina. Shows a little chip and crack by the stock pin in the forearm. Overall a nicely done conversion from musket to shotgun. Does not function mechanically, mainspring is missing and tumbler is damaged. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
