H&P percussion conversion of M1816 Springfield musket. Lock dated 1830 with H&P marking and date of 1861 on barrel breech. Nicely marked overall. Barrel has substantial original brown finish mixing with patina toward the breech and uncleaned patina on other parts. Stock is generally fine, showing little use with fine cartouches. There is a crack present below the sideplate and in front of the triggerguard, with a more minor crack in front of the lock. Free of missing wood or substantial handling marks. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
