M1795 Springfield Type II percussion musket. Dated 1809 on lock and buttplate. Barrel is a very old replacement with British proof marks, and has clearly been with the gun since the period of use. Nice lock markings. Metal parts are mostly a dark patina with a few cleaned spots where someone removed some rust to show light pitting. Ramrod is from a rifled musket, with about 6" of original section welded to a reproduction, and is ready to break at the weld. Stock is good, showing average wear and handling marks, free of cracks except for a small age crack by the rear lock screw, and free of chips except for the usual chipping to the ramrod channel edges. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
