M1840 Springfield flintlock musket, dated 1841 on lock and barrel. Nicely marked overall. Barrel appears to have never been converted, lock external parts are excellent quality reproductions. Metal parts are an attractive medium patina with only a little pitting on the buttplate. Stock is very good, showing a few minor handling marks, but generally has an attractive look. There is a small age crack in the butt on right side, a small crack by the lock screws, and a letter "W" in front of the triggerguard. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
