M1842 US Springfield percussion musket. Dated 1848 on lock and 1850 on barrel. Stock shortened to just in front of lower barrel band, barrel shortened to 33" long. Metal parts with light patina and scattered pitting from an earlier cleaning. Stock very worn and dried from age with some slivering around the lock mortise and several minor cracks. Missing sideplate, nipple, and lower sling swivel. Several screws and the barrel band are incorrect replacements. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
