M1855 Springfield percussion rifled musket, dated 1860 on lock. Style with patchbox in stock. Fine lock markings, and barrel proofs, with barrel date worn away. Metal parts were polished bright with scattered minor pitting. Stock is very good, showing average wear and use, with a minor hairline crack behind the lock, otherwise free of cracks, and a little wear behind the bolster. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
