Colt M1851 Navy cartridge conversion revolver. Serial number 96XXX. An interesting gunsmith conversion, the back of the cylinder was cut off to accommodate metallic rimfire cartridges, a second set of cylinder stop slots were needed to use the original stop, and the frame shortened slightly to fit the shortened cylinder. Loading lever was probably discarded when the conversion was made. Someone tried to remove the abused wedge by drilling it in three places but failed. Wood grips are good, having been refinished. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
