E. Allen & Co., "drop breech" rifle. Flayderman 5A-098. 26" barrel. Marked on top of frame "E. ALLEN & CO.WORCESTER.MASS/ALLENS PAT SEPT.18 1860." Serial number 270. Barrel has very fine original blue finish with scattered rust specks. Frame and buttplate are a light to medium patina, having been lightly cleaned. Stock is fine, free of chips, shows scattered slight handling marks. Front sight is an old replacement that appears to be of copper. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
