C1850-60 southern percussion kentucky rifle. 42-1/2" octagon barrel, of about .40 caliber. Has a "grease hole" in the buttstock typically associated with western North Carolina or Tennessee rifles. Barrel is unsigned and missing the key lugs on the bottom, so it is loose from the stock. Typical plain iron mountings, butt portion of two-piece buttplate is missing with the tang portion present. Metal parts have dark patina overall with some worn scattered pitting. Stock appears to be chestnut, having been lightly cleaned, has several minor cracks, and some thin missing wood along the forearm edges. Does not function mechanically. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
