M1841 US "Mississippi" rifle by Tryon, 1848. Tryon is the scarcest of the federal contracts for M1841 rifles. Triggerguard and patchbox were cleaned at some point, other parts have dark patina with some scattered moderate pitting on the barrel. Nipple, ramrod, lower barrel band, sideplate, rear sight and one lock screw are missing. Original length barrel and stock. Stock is good, sound and solid overall, having been lightly cleaned, inspector cartouches present opposite lock. Has a small crack by the sideplate mortise and another in the forearm, and some slivering to the ramrod channel, but is otherwise free of cracks and missing wood. Hammer has spring tension, but does not cock. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
