M1879 .45-70 cadet rifle SN102427

M1879 Springfield 45-70 rifle. Serial number 102427. Has early M1873 stock with nice ESA cartouche and early 1873 dated lock. Rear sight missing ladder. Metal parts have light to medium mottled patina overall, lock has been cleaned lighter to expose marking. Receiver missing right "ear" which holds hinge pin. Stock good, has a grain crack in front of front lock screw, and scattered marks overall, showing average wear. Lock mechanically good, breechblock latch does not have spring tension. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
