C1855-1867 halfstock percussion rifle by Charles V. Ramsdell of Bangor, Maine. Listed in Sellers' "American Gunsmiths" book. Marked on side flat of barrel "C.V.Ramsdell/BANGOR.Me." Metal parts were cleaned at one time and have partly repatinated. The provision on the bottom of the barrel to hold the barrel pin is damaged, consequently, the barrel must be secured by a cable tie. The walnut stock is good, missing a piece of wood above the lock. Has a crack above the sideplate, and a corresponding chip. Appears to have once had a ramrod rib below the barrel, now missing, as is the ramrod. Mechanically good, except does not have half cock. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
