C1851-6 rifle-shotgun combination gun by Joseph Harding, Lowell, Massachusetts

J.Harding, Lowell, Mass., as marked on top of barrel rib, side-by-side rifle-shotgun combination. Joseph Harding is listed as having made guns in Lowell, Massachusetts from 1851-1856. 28" barrels. Shotgun bore is about .73", rifle bore is about .44". Metal parts have attractive medium to dark patina with some nice engraving. Stock very good, attractive overall, has a possible hairline crack in forearm and a couple tiny chips in lock mortise. Left lock mechanically good, right lock works outside of gun, but will not cock when installed. Shotgun barrel wall slightly rough/corroded away in a small spot at muzzle. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
