English P1853/66 Snider Enfield Mark II* rifle. Dated 1863 on lock. DC (Dominion of Canada) marked stock. Interesting shield shaped plate on right side of butt with initials AW. Metal parts are a dark patina with a little pitting on the muzzle. Two barrel bands are replacements. A nipple replaces the firing pin, and there is a screw present in the block and floor of the frame. Someone perhaps was using it as a percussion gun? Stock is very good, showing average wear and use with minor marks and a shallow piece missing from forearm on right side near muzzle. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
