Springfield M1879 "Trapdoor" 45-70 rifle. Serial number 441756. Rear barrel band and sight upgraded to 1884 style. Metal parts are light to medium patina overall and are virtually free of pitting. Stock was cleaned and shows a few scattered marks, including a few dings that were filled in the butt. A crack is present in the forearm edge in front of the lock. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
