Grove & Co, as marked on locks, double barrel percussion shotgun. Also marked on barrel "Silver Steel", which was silver inlaid, most of which is missing. 33" barrels. A note included indicates that the gun was ordered and used by an overseer at a family plantation in Virginia. Overall, a high grade gun that saw a lot of use. Metal parts have an uncleaned patina with nice engraving. Stock shows a good deal of wear from use, but relatively few marks, no missing wood except a couple chips associated with a wrist break that was repaired long ago with two strips of German silver, exhibited a little bit of play. One hammer screw was replaced and the hammer has some play. Otherwise mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
