Ballard's patent breechloading carbine by Ball and Williams. Serial number 1988. Markings on barrel flats are somewhat faint "BALLARD'S PATENT/NOV.5.1861.", "BALL&WILLIAMS/Worcester Mass.", "MERWIN&BRAY,AGT'S/NEW YORK." Metal parts are lightly cleaned except barrel, which has added blue finish. Stocks are lightly cleaned with a couple handling marks present, free of cracks and chips. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
