First type J.H.Merrill percussion breechloading carbine. Serial number 11827 on lock. Metal parts appear to have been cleaned at some point with a lighter coloration to the brass and a darker coloration to the iron. Stock is battered from saddle wear with a couple chips in the lock mortise and in front of ring bar. There is still a vestige of a cartouche in a protected spot by the ring bar. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
