Springfield early M1873 .45-70 trapdoor carbine. Serial number not visible. Has many early features of band with stacking swivel, early sight with "slotless" screws, "high arch" breechblock with early marking, dated lock with coarsely knurled hammer, and smooth trigger. Has upgraded buttstock with trap in buttplate for maintenance components. Metal parts have a pleasing medium patina with some original blue finish present. Stock is good, showing minor handling marks from use, free of cracks, showing average wear. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
