C1820-40 flintlock maple fullstock Pennsylvania longfowler made with C1700 French barrel, which appears to be signed "FRANCOIS THIGLLIERE" forward of the ornamented breech. 55-3/4" barrel with blade front sight set back from muzzle, about 0.65" bore. Appears to be a reconversion to flintlock. Fancy silver wrist escutcheon that may have come from the same early firearm as the barrel. Metal parts have a medium to dark patina overall with some pitting in the barrel breech. Maple fullstock has some birdseye character in the butt and striped character in the forestock. There are two replaced pieces of wood in the toe of the butt, some chipping to the lock mortise, chipping to the forearm edges, more handling marks further down the forearm with some absent slivers and cracking toward the tip, which has two small folk art geometric inlays that appear to be intended to close a crack. 50-3/4" ramrod may be a little short for the gun, but has pronounced shadows from having been in the gun for many years. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
