Early British Short Land second model Brown Bess flintlock musket. Barrel shortened to 39" length. Lock markings are very worn and only partially visible. Barrel proofs are present at breech. Early style lock with only one screw behind the cock. Unit marked on buttplate tang "1ST COMPY No 11". Metal parts have a light patina on brass furnishings and a rust patina on iron parts. Stock shows average wear and use overall, has a marking "G.S" in the wood behind the sideplate. Wood has an old worn chip missing on left side of butt by buttplate, a little chipping behind the barrel tang, crack in front of sideplate with several long lateral slivers missing from forearm edges on both sides. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
