Scarce M1798 US contract musket by Elisha Brown of Providence, RI. Flayderman 9A-026. 1000 contracted for with 775 deliveries recorded. Marked at rear of lock "BROWN" (poorly struck) "1801" and "US". 43-5/8" barrel. Metal parts have an untouched and uncleaned patina overall with light storage rust. One barrel band spring, ramrod, frizzen screw, part of frizzen spring, sear spring, and mainspring are absent. Stock is also uncleaned and shows abrasions from storage, and shows numerous cracks and chips, and a large piece of wood missing behind the lock. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
