Maryland proofed percussion conversion M1798-type musket. Large perched eagle marking with US below on lock, P-proof and M proof for Maryland on barrel. 43-3/4" barrel. Metal parts have a dark patina overall with some pitting in the barrel breech area and on the buttplate. Stock shows moderate wear from use with some minor slivering in the ramrod channel, small cracks front and rear of lock, near front and rear lock bolts, and near the buttplate. Overall, stock has a good appearance and is structurally sound. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
