Prussian Germanic M1809 percussion musket. Important import musket early in the American Civil War. 41-1/8" barrel. "Potsdam" marking on lock and marked to the 2nd Infantry Regiment on the butt. Metal parts have a brown patina on iron surfaces with some old uncleaned light rust and some expected pitting in the barrel breech area. Brass parts have a medium patina. Stock shows average wear and use overall with expected handling marks, small crack by rear lock screw, small chip below rear of lock, crack to ramrod channel behind rear band, and small piece of wood missing from ramrod channel on right side near upper band. Very presentable musket with both sling swivels and original ramrod. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
