Leman percussion conversion of a M1816 flintlock musket. Henry Leman was a prolific Lancaster, PA gunmaker and innovator, who converted a number of flintlock muskets to percussion for the State of Pennsylvania and the US Federal government using his screw-in breech with percussion bolster system. Lock has obscure marks of Nippes manufacture and 1839 date that were probably weakened when the gun was refurbished at the time of conversion. Metal parts have a dark patina overall with some expected pitting in the barrel breech area. Stock shows typical wear from use with bumps and scratches, initials in either side of the butt, an old worn piece of wood missing from the lower rear of lock mortise, and some minor chipping to the ramrod channel. Good inspector cartouche present in stock opposite lock. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
