US M1816 contract musket by Eli Whitney, with bayonet. Dated 1835 on lock and barrel. Standard bold Whitney marking on lock with arrow and olive branch motif. Inspector cartouche visible in stock opposite lock. Good, complete gun with both sling swivels and ramrod (missing threads). Metal parts are mostly a dark patina with some expected pitting in the flash hole area, barrel bands and sideplate have been lightly cleaned. Stock is good, showing average wear and some moderate handling marks from use, has a small crack at rear of lock and a small crack at the rear lock screw. Standard bayonet with deeply stuck "US" mark, additional "U" inspector mark by slot, uncleaned patina overall with some old rust present. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
