Colt M1861 Special Model percussion rifled musket. Dated 1864 on lock. Metal parts have an attractive uncleaned patina overall with a little pitting in the barrel breech area and on buttplate. Rear sight is missing the 300- and 500-yard leaves and upper sling swivel absent. Stock is good, showing smooth wear overall with both inspector cartouches visible. Has a hairline crack by rear lock bolt, hairline crack in front of lock, crack forward and rear of lower band, and some chipping to the ramrod channel. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
