M1861 Special Model musket by S.N. & W.T.C. For Massachusetts. Barrel shortened to 20" with stock shortened accordingly. Nicely marked metal parts including barrel proofs and date of 1864. Metal parts have a brown finish except lockplate that is bright and hammer that is color casehardened. Stock is fine, showing minimal use, has a few moderate handling bruises, and a light wrist crack. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
