Springfield M1863 Type I percussion rifled musket. Lock dated 1863, with eagle and "US SPRINGFIELD" in front of hammer. Metal parts are mostly dark with some scattered pitting. Both sling swivels are present. Stock is good, may have been lightly cleaned, but has an honest used appearance, with scattered handling marks, one deeper mark in right side of forearm behind middle band, an age check near the buttplate, and a small crack behind lock. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
