Springfield M1795 Type III percussion conversion musket. Dated 1810 on lock and 1809 on buttplate. 44-5/8" original length barrel with bayonet stud period altered to blade front sight. Nicely marked lock and barrel. Metal parts are mostly an untouched patina with lock plate having been cleaned to show the markings. Ramrod and sling swivel with stud are absent. Stock has a nicely executed and shaped tin sheet repair to the wrist. Forearm is shortened to just in front of the lower barrel band, buttstock comb has been shaved down during the period. Has some slivering around the lock mortise and barrel tang. Lock is internally complete but missing hammer.
