Springfield M1795 percussion conversion musket. Lock has script "US" over a Springfield eagle with minimal traces of the "SPRINGFIELD" marking, and two added "JD" markings. Barrel has light but present proofs on the left side of the breech. 44-3/4" round barrel. Metal parts have a pleasing smooth dark brown patina overall with some expected pitting in the barrel breech area and on the buttplate. Gun is a nice honest piece as it was used, having both sling swivels present and all of the barrel band springs working. Correct length trumpet head ramrod has markings "V" and "R" on it. Stock shows smooth wear from use, scattered minor handling marks, small crack rear of lock, diagonal crack forward of front side screw, and some minor chipping to the ramrod channel. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
