M1816 US Springfield Type III flintlock musket. Dated 1826 on lock and 1834 on barrel. Well marked metal parts with indistinct cartouche in stock opposite lock. Metal parts are cleaned to "in the white" surfaces as the gun would have had originally. Reconverted to flintlock with plugged cone hole in barrel, external lock parts are originals except reproduction brass pan. Spur and jaw screw are broken on cock, top jaw is absent. Ramrod is absent. Upper barrel band will not fit on musket, it is the wrong style for a M1816. Stock shows some wear and use with scattered minor handling marks, some minor nicks in the ramrod channel. Wood may have been lightly cleaned. Cock has too much spring tension to pull back to test mechanics. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
