Leman percussion conversion of a Springfield M1816 Type III flintlock musket. Henry Leman was a prolific Lancaster, PA gunmaker and innovator, who converted a number of flintlock muskets to percussion for the State of Pennsylvania and the US Federal government using his screw-in breech with percussion bolster system. Lock is well-marked with date of 1837, stock cartouches are present opposite lock. Metal parts are cleaned to a light gray, showing some expected minor pitting in the barrel breech area. Both sling swivels are present. Stock shows light refinishing, still having some minor handling marks and scratches, free of cracks except for a minuscule hairline by the rear side screw. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
