Springfield M1861 musket, dated 1862 on lock. Barrel proofs are present, and stock cartouches are faintly visible opposite the lock. Metal parts have a medium patina overall with expected pitting present in the barrel breech area. Rear sight is missing the long range leaves, sling swivels are absent, and the ramrod is only 34" long. Stock is well-worn with a smooth, light brown appearance, has grain cracks at rear and front of lock, grain cracks by rear lock bolt, old initials in left side of butt, and ramrod channel extensively slivered and worn from years of use. Mechanically functional, but mainspring is weak. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
