US Navy marked Colt .38 centerfire revolver. One of the series made in original cartridge configuration at the factory from perviously unused percussion parts. Serial number 2981 matching except unnumbered wedge. Marked "R.W.M. [anchor]" on underside of barrel. Extractor, housing, and loading lever plug are absent. Several screws are replacements. Very fine nickel finish overall showing some small missing spots, primarily on the cylinder. Grips have been sanded and show handling marks and edges of the butt worn down from the years. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
