US Contract M1836 flintlock pistol by Asa Waters of Milbury, Massachusetts. Standard maker marking on lock with date of 1843. US proofs on barrel and partial inspector cartouches in stock opposite lock. 8-1/2" round barrel of .54 caliber bore. Metal parts are good, showing medium patina overall with scattered light pitting. Hammer screw has some interesting decoration. Stock is fair overall, has small crack by rear lock screw, some small slivers by sideplate link to barrel band, and some dents and chips to the lock mortise and barrel tang. Hammer cocks fully and releases but does not have half cock, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
