US M1842 percussion contract pistol by Aston, as marked on lock. Dated 1849 on lock, proofed on barrel, excellent inspector marks in stock opposite lock. Metal parts have a mottled patina overall with patches of pitting on iron parts and yellow brass surfaces. Stock shows light wear from handling with a wonderful honey blonde coloration, has some handling marks from over the years, small crack by rear lock screw, small crack at rear of lock, and some minor chipping to the lock mortise at front of lock. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
