Medium size C1720-1750 French flintlock holster pistol. 10-1/8" round ribbed barrel of about .62 caliber bore, about 17" Signed on lock in script "Baloche A Paris". Another Baloche pistol is viewable online that is dated 1724. Nicely furnished with sculpted and engraved iron parts including grotesque buttcap cover. Stock is nicely carved around borders with more intricate floral fan carvings around ramrod ferule and barrel tang with additional incise carvings of drapery knots on either side of barrel tang. Stock is nicely grained with a couple light cracks to the grip. Forearm has been expertly restored, carved, and colored from just forward of the branch carving on the side. Has an old leather collector tag identifying the gun by number and describing it. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
