William Wurfflein, Philadelphia single shot tip-up rifle. William Wurfflein lived from 1869-1915 and was the son of noted Philadelphia gunmaker Andrew Wurfflein. Serial number 1288. 24-3/8" octagon barrel, bore diameter about 0.30", centerfire position firing pin in frame. Unusual trigger-like barrel release on top of frame. Barrel has a plumb blue patina with small spots showing cleaning. Frame shows honest wear areas to original nickel finish. Stocks are very good, showing some minor handling marks, with a little rough spot and repaired crack in left forearm edge. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
