C1820-40 fullstock percussion conversion longrifle, signed on barre "H Gumpf" in script. Henry Gumpf is listed as operating in Lancaster, Pennsylvania from 1820-1843. 42" octagon barrel of 15/16" width and .52 caliber bore. Trade lock marked "S.MOORE/WARRANTED". Nicely engraved patchbox, sideplate and forearm cap. Silver crescent moon inlay in cheek piece, silver shield escutcheon in wrist, and silver oval barrel key escutcheons in both sides of forearm. Brass parts were lightly cleaned, barrel and lock have a mottled patina with some pitting in the barrel breech area. Stock is lightly refinished, has a small piece of wood missing above the front of the lock, a crack going forward from the sideplate, and missing a long, worn sliver from the right forearm edge. Patchbox cover may be a replacement and is stuck in place. Lock cocks, but spring isn't especially strong and also does not half cock. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
