US M1841 "Mississippi" rifle by Philadelphia gunmaker George W. Tryon. Only 5,000 produced. Well-marked lock with date of 1848. Good inspector cartouches in stock opposite lock. Iron parts have a dark patina overall with some pitting in the barrel breech area. Period iron ramrod. Brass parts are a mellow coloration, having been cleaned at some point in the past. Stock is good with a smooth appearance overall, may have been very lightly cleaned, has a small crack by the rear lock screw, some minor chips in the ramrod channel edges, and several moderate handling dings. Patchbox spring is absent, a spare nipple is located in the patchbox. Very presentable gun with sling swivels still present, from a scarcer maker. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
