C1870-1900 Ohio percussion fullstock longrifle. Lock marked "H GANO & Co" for Howell Gano & Company of Cincinnati, OH from 1844-1900. Barrel marked "J.C", most likely for Joseph Leonard Clippinger (1852-1929) of New Franklin, OH. 42-3/4" octagon barrel of .35 caliber bore. Metal parts have a light patina on brass furnishings and dark patina on the iron parts with some pitting in the barrel breech area. Stock has a slight curly maple grain, shows average wear and use overall with a light added finish, age check in the right side of the butt, small crack by lock screw, two small cracks in front of the lock, and two small diagonal cracks in the right side of the forearm. Lock functions only with trigger set and does not have half cock. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
