C1850-60 Smoky Mountain region "poor boy" percussion walnut fullstock rifle. Barrel with indistinct initials, possibly the maker, back action trade lock marked "G.Goulcher". 39" octagon barrel of 15/16" width and 0.39" bore. Interesting high buckhorn rear sight and front sight period homemade replacement using a coin for the blade. Distinctive grease hole in right side of butt. Metal parts are a medium to dark patina overall with some expected pitting in the barrel breech area. Stock is good, worn smooth with scattered minor handling marks, has some lateral cracks in the forearm near the tip on both sides, small piece of wood missing above the lock, and a wrist crack that was repaired during the period with brass plates and shows minimal play. Lock does not have half cock, does cock fully with light trigger pull. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
