Springfield M1903 MK I .30-06 US rifle. Serial number 1120657, made in 1919. Receiver is made with cuts for the "Automatic Bolt Model of 1918 Mark I" or Pedersen Device, that allowed to switch between a turn bolt .30-06 rifle and a 40-round semi automatic .30 caliber rifle using a small pistol-like cartridge. The system was never deployed in action and was kept secret until 1931 when the rifles were rebuilt with standard parts and virtually all of the device parts destroyed. Rifle is in good arsenal rebuilt configuration as used in military service. Has an "SA 9 42" marked barrel from WWII and a stamped stacking swivel. Cartouche in stock behind magazine cutoff. Metal parts have an even coloration overall and appear free of any problematic rust and some uncleaned dust from storage. Stock is good as arsenal refurbished, has some scattered moderate handling marks, and the hand guard shows some added finish. Ships to FFL or C&R license holder. Appears mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot, buyer should consult a professionally trained gunsmith if considering shooting this rifle.
