Exquisite French Second Empire style double barrel percussion shotgun signed on barrel "LE FAURE A PARIS". 25-5/8" barrels of about 0.69" bores. Barrels and ramrod pipes have decorative ridges and deep sculpted symmetrical swirling designs on the flats. Locks, triggerguard, and ramrod entry ferule are complexly shaped and demonstrate the art of the woodworker who inletted them. All furnishings show highly detailed engraving of a symmetrical form. Metal parts have a medium patina overall. Stock is deeply and intricately carved with floral motifs that are then highlighted in a dark finish. Wood is nicely grained and shows a smooth, uncleaned appearance. Nice silver-tipped ramrod. Locks function crisply. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
