rare Starr Arms Co. Civil War carbine converted to shotgun. These sporting conversions are seen on many models of Civil War carbines and would make quite an interesting collection for a dedicated individual. 22" part octagon, part round barrel of about 20 gauge or 0.60". Manual extractor with return spring on left side of frame. Metal parts have a dark appearance with minimal scattered pitting. Buttstock has original inspector cartouches opposite lock, both stocks show wear and use overall with some expected handling marks, a couple small age checks by the buttplate, small chip by buttplate tang, and a small filled spot on the left side of the forearm near the frame. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
